Don and Ginger Singleton |
From Don Singleton:
Ginger (Rosenberg) and I met the summer after we graduated from
high school. Ginger went to Millikan High and we then both went to LBCC for two years. In the summer of 1965 we
married on August the 20th. A year later, Uncle Sam requested that I joined his forces, so I went into the U.S. Army
for two years of active duty. We just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary. Each year just keeps getting better
and better for us. After spending a career working for Shell Oil Company in Southern California, I took an
early retirement in the 90's. After spending close to 30 years living in Huntington Beach and raising our two sons,
we decided to leave Southern California for "greener" pastures and moved to the state of Washington. We both love it in
the Pacific Northwest and the town in which we live (Poulsbo---population of 7000+). This picture was taken at our 30th
wedding anniversary which also coincided with our older son getting married.

Howard and Carol Larimer McLaughlin - The happily blended family- Then & Now |
|
Howard & Carol Larimer McLaughlin, 1984 |
Carol and Howard McLaughlin
were married on April Fool’s day in 1984 in Palos Verdes, Calif. We met on a blind date in 1983 and instantly knew we
wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. With our marriage, we created
a blended family for three super children who are all grown up now. After living
in southern California for most of our lives, we moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest in 1996 and settled in Portland,
Oregon. In 2002 after years of ill health, I received my new heart from an anonymous
donor, and we celebrated the birth of our first grandson! Our life together has
been one of faith, hope, appreciation, a little compulsion and a lot of love. We enjoy taking our RV on weekend jaunts, volunteering
for national Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Programs and for the American Red Cross. We’re in training for the Transplant
Olympic games in Kentucky in Aug 2006, and we are really looking forward to retirement in the near future--with lots of time
to visit family and friends. After 22 years together, we are still two “April Fools” in love!
If falling in love is
anything like learning how to spell, I don't want to do it. It takes too long."

BEST PERFORMANCE IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Well, it took only 46 years, but Dennie & Richard managed
to pull together their Maid of Honor (JoAnn Broshear) and Best Man (Jim Pierce) for this return photo.

As they got ready to celebrate their 43rd anniversary 3
years ago,, Dennie was asked their secret. Her first thought was one word, "Luck". After carefully considering
for almost a week, her answer was still "Luck." So good luck to the Kings for many more years.

Bob and Susie Cottler Carter - January 2005 |
Susie Cottler's Story:
Bob and I met in prison in the late nineties. I was an
attorney defending a felon and Bob was the administrative law judge with the California Parole Board deciding my client's
fate. Bob began working for the parole board after he retired from the LAPD as a Lieutenant in the late eighties. As
in most cases, Bob found my client guilty and sentenced him to return to prison. Our opposing positions didn't
interfere with our developing friendship. Bob introduced me to hiking and bicycling and we've become supportive of each
other's activities. Sometimes he complains that maybe I'm too supportive of his activities but we intend to travel into
the final third of our lives as healthy and happy as we can be. So far, so good. We were married in Las Vegas
in the chapel at the Flamingo hotel on January 16, 2005. Many of our hiking buddies caravaned up to attend our wedding
as well as family members and old friends--as far back as elementary school. I know that I am blessed and fortunate to
have such a wonderful man as my husband and companion.

Bruce and Linda Tucker Wride - 4/23/66 |
Bruce and I began our romance in eighth grade and, except for
ninth grade, have been together ever since. We were married in 1966 and are enjoying our life together. Bruce
has been the Ceramics teacher at Hemet High since 1970 and, when he retires, he will walk with the graduates and finally get
out of school. We've done a lot of fun things together--traveling, chaperoning band trips, performing with 13,000 dancers
in a dance festival in the Rose Bowl, and enjoying our two children and, come December, ten grandchildren. I asked
Bruce, "What other fun things have we done?" He replied, "Everything we do is fun." That pretty much says it all.
