12/11/2013 - Pssst! Don't tell Jeri I told you, but when she wrote (below) that the musical pieces "have been converted to a format compatible
with the website," she failed to mention that she bought some equipment (a turntable with a USB cable
and software), hooked it up to her computer, installed the software, recorded the music, dealt with iTunes (and
tech support, of course), burned a disk, and then added the music to the website, one number at a time, figuring all this
out as she went along. Of course, she persevered until it was done. A big Thank You to Jeri. --
Linda Tucker Wride
12/10 - As promised! We now have music from
BOTH December 61 (our junior year) and December '62 (our senior year.) These have been converted to a format compatible
with the website and posted together in two sections of the site. Let your first stop be the new page (menu on the left) "Christmas
Concerts 1961 and 1962" or click on the singing bears. Then go to "Kindergarten Baby" and visit the different
pages for the 1961 program. Finally, stop by The Quad to hear the music from December of 1962. It's truly beautiful!
12/5 - Thank you for added donations
to the Legacy of '63
12/1 - DO YOU HEAR WHAT WE HEAR?? Merry Christmas
from your Webmistresses! As we have for the past few years, we have posted the actual music from our sophomore year
(Christmas '60), the orchestra, choir, and boys and girls' glee clubs throughout the website. There are 13 pieces in
all. Enjoy listening to the music of our classmates as you explore our website. And check back soon, because we
now also have the Christmas Concert from 1961 (our junior year) on vinyl and will soon have it converted and placed on
the website. Heartfelt thanks to the daughters of Terry Pikop for passing along his records when he passed away earlier
this year. By the way, we have decorated EVERY section. Please take your time wandering around.

(from Margie) : A few years ago I started dedicating the Christmas
Version of the web site to different people for different reasons. This year I am dedicating it to the number one fan
of the site. Sadly, he is not with us but I'm sure he's looking over my shoulder with his usual suggestions. He always
called himself "that handsome blue eyed devil from Georgia". By now I think you know I am speaking of Sourdough
John (John Dugdale). John was the first to respond to the web site when the it was first created and published on the
web. I didn't know at the time that I was making such a remarkable friend. He loved the Fun Page and drove Jeri
crazy with all his music selections. Boy, did he know his 50's and 60's music. He played and critiqued every game
on the page also. He contributed to the Message Board all the time and became such a part of the web site that we often
gave him sneak peeks and his own secret pages that only he could access. We had pictures of his "Johndarosa" and
a few of the animals he kept on those pages. I will miss his emails, I will miss our long standing disagreement on what
to call the Stand Down page, he really felt it should have been called "At Ease". All three of your web mistresses
have worked long and hard on this Christmas Version and we dedicate it to you. You were so much a part of this
web site and your memory was incredible for the 'good old days'. One last thing that I know about you, you had asked
your Dad in the 60's I believe that you wanted II Silenzio (TAPS) played at your funeral. You'll find it on the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier (Stand Down) I'm sending you one last hug and kiss. I will miss you terribly.

More Back to the Future News.....A group of Lee Elementary alumni got together
for a special presentation to the graduating 5th grade classes at Lee.
Pictured above are Susie Cottler, Barbara Duski, Val Sabin, Judee Williams, Jeri Hemphill
and Roger Wyatt having lunch at Hof's on Bellflower following the presentation. See Kindergarten Baby page 6 for
full details......
Returning to our Roots !
June 18, 2007, Roger Wyatt, Susie Cottler, Judee Williams and Val Sabin visited
Robert E. Lee Elementary school to provide motivation and inspiration to the graduating fifth graders. They spoke to over
100 boys and girls about their experiences of growing up in Long Beach. Subjects discussed were the importance of staying
in school, succeeding through hard work, treating people with fairness and esteeming one's self. Susie showed them her judge's
robe and gavel, Judee shared the book she wrote, "Drama is Optional" and Roger explained that more education equals bigger
income ! It was a surreal experience to be back on the same playground, cafeteria and classroom that we graduated from a mere
fifty years ago! - Val Sabin
Can you believe it!!!!!
On May 26, 2007, the Reunion Committee met to begin planning our 45th Reunion. Stay tuned for details as they happen.

What makes us who we are? Is it biology? Is it environment? Is
it a combination of both? It is an age-old argument and one that may never be settled. One thing that is certain, however,
is the fact that some people triumph over challenging circumstances better than others. Susan Borges offers a beautiful illustration
of this in her new novel, "Strawberry Field."
