Thanks to Linda Tucker Wride, who responded to our APB for Camp Hi Hill Photos....
and a bonus, the lyrics from the song the staff sang to the departing kids. Hi Hill will be celebrating 60 years this
spring, and we've been in touch with a few former cabin counselors who were trying to locate pictures - any pictures
at all. So the APB still stands - check those boxes in the garage or attic? Thanks.
Moments to Remember The ride you had upon the bus, The thoughts you had when you saw us, You will have these moments to remember. The morning you awoke at
four, The afternoon you scrubbed the floor, You will have these moments to remember. Although
we might have scolded, even screamed at one or two, We
really had to watch ourselves to keep from loving you! The sixteen tons of leaves you raked, The birthday cake that your cooks baked, You will have these moments to remember. The daily hikes, the daily
fun, The tired rest when day was done, You will have these moments to remember. The hike
we took with our knapsacks, The sunset's glow
on Red Box Gap, You will have these moments to
remember. Though sixth grade turns to twelfth grade, and the present disappears, The
mem'ries of Camp Hi-Hill will echo through the years. The things you saw, The things you learned, The
friendship as our campfire burned You will have
these moments to remember. *********************************************************************
TED & JOAN'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE Think back to 6th grade and our adventures at Camp
Hi-Hill. Remember Ted, the by-far coolest male counselor there? (also seen at the bottom of this page.) These pics were just received; shown here are Ted Brekke and Joan Windle, then (1956) and now (56 years
later.) Ted commented, "I thought you might be interested in seeing then/now
photos of two wet-behind-the-ears teenagers who are now Q-tip senior citizens."

In that "can-do" Tucker Twin tradition, now Leslie Walker
has sent some more pictures, including this one of Michelle McMillan (left), teacher Ms. Bartunek, and Leslie (right)
- Nancy Strosnider, kneeling.
Bunkies: Wendy, Barbara, Sue Ann, Michelle, Leslie,
Judy and Nancy
Below, counselors Reed and Judy - at Red Box Ranger's
Station
OK, Thanks to Joanne Bauchet Keenan, who came thru
BIG TIME with this picture, and others - to follow
- a treasury of old pictures of The Way We Were.
This is Joanne, Linda Blair, and ?? trying to find out - probably a counselor?
Above, Ted's assigned cabin "Oak" now serves
as the camp museum. No more bunk beds to be made.
Above, what is left of the bear that Hi Hill Principal
Andy Allegretti killed at the wishing well in 1958. Below, a picture of a picture of Andy and the bear when it was a
whole, albeit very deceased, bear.
Wracking your brain to remember Cabin Counselors Vivian
and Ted of the mid-50s? Wrack no more,
thanks to Ben West, '55 for sending Ted, and Ted for sending Vivian!
What are old friends for??? :)

Happy Campers All! Counselor Judy, Wendy Archer,
Michelle McMillan, Leslie, Barbara Armstrong, Nancy Strosnider, and Sue Ann Williams
Counselor " Jerry " and a car we will refer to as "Jerry's car."
Counselors Carolyn and Mario, also at Red Box Ranger Station.
Note, Don't know much about this Mario,
but several of us girls do remember the
name. Left a lasting impression. Sigh.
Here's that old Jerry again. Shall we assume this is "Jerry's Shovel?"
TED AND VIVIAN'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE!
Thanks to Ted Brekke for supplying these visual aids to accompany the comments
on the Bruin Den Message Board. These were taken April 2008 when former counselors Ted Brekke and Vivian Fisher Myers
and spouses returned for a hike down memory lane
Could this guy be one of the infamous "heads peeking in
the window" that kept our young camper classmates scared into silence after lights out? (as mentioned in Ted's earlier
postings.)
