From Tournament Chairman Bob Chrisman:

The FABULOUS WILSON CLASS OF ‘63 GOLF TOURNAMENT set a new standard for innovation.  Bob Chrisman explained the 3-club rule but many participants had trouble with the higher math.  Next time, we may make it 2-clubs to keep things simple.

The many AWARDS included:
Closest to the Hole (which was a trash can buried in a sand bunker) won by Bill Cheney after bouncing off a nearby tree!
Longest Drive won by Bob Chrisman who nixed his Putter for a 5 wood
Shortest Drive won by Sara Erskine Schoenfelder
Deepest Water Shot - there was a lot of disgusting competition for this award!
Low Gross Score - won by Pat Brown who was awarded a bucket of range balls after skating into OUR Reunion although he was from the less-classy Class of '61
High Gross Score - won by Barbara Sue Warrick – while still only halfway towards completing hole #1.

Although we were better "behaved" than most Bruin Oldies, it seems that the Course Marshals found and removed a suspicious COOLER from the 6th Tee Box when it was found to contain "all manner of suspicious intoxicating liquids." Hmmmm, next time we will bury it!

Additionally, the Marshals almost called in the CA National Guard to get the group of Sara Erskine, Jane Welch, and Jerry and Julie Freet moving along more quickly. It seems that they were expected to finish the 1st par-3 hole in LESS THAN 30 MINUTES!

Forming a group of Courtney Hansen, Bob Chrisman, Bill Cheney & Paul Kartinen is like asking for trouble and the group of Bob Livingstone, Fred, Richard and Dennie Hamilton King & Jim Brun appeared competitive but Dennie soon torpedoed that!
Gary Smith was still imposing;
Tony Duarte was on his game;
Gary Hoover looked the part;
John McClelland thought we were bowling and Oran Knowles suggested that “Curling” might be more fun.
Don Singleton (who set records at Lowell Elementary for hitting baseballs onto the roofs of Rogers Jr. High) continued to chase long balls all day;
Bill Cheney practiced for his Walking Marathon by spraying balls all over the course and nearby neighborhoods and Courtney Hansen was typically not serious about golf (seriously!) and “gimme putts” of six feet, or more, soon became the rage!

Other than setting a new Bixby Course 9-hole record of about Five Hours, we all had a tremendously good time and actually made it to the Bruin Picnic at the Wilson Quad on time (& warmed-up).  If any course will accept us in the future, we will strive to obliterate existing records for hilarity and for duplicating the mere semblance of the game of golf.

From Jane Welch Sprague:

OK, hold the presses!  Jane here--and I take offense to the comment that I was slow(?).  First off, when I hit my first drive off the tee box (after a few of those orange juice drinks) all the guys were in ahhhhh at the distance and that it landed in the fairway. They were so excited to have me on their team!!!

And that is my story and I am sticking to it?!?!?!  We moved along quite quickly, as I recall, until we stopped to try and find that hidden treasure cooler only to be told we were taking too long and that it had been confiscated.  Oh, well.  But we did have fun--or at least I did--with my gaggle of men.*!*!*!!*
